When To Visit

It is great to know that Kilimanjaro can be visited year-round.However, if you want clear skies, excellent views, and a lot of sunshine, it’s best to visit Kilimanjaro Park from June through October. This condition also makes an ideal time for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.However, weather can change dramatically regardless of the season, particularly when climbing and passing its five major ecological climate zones.

Wildlife In KILIMANJARO

Elephants

The largest land mammals on Earth, African Savannah Elephants are a grand sight to behold in Kilimanjaro National Park. They can be seen grazing on the plains, bathing in the rivers, and wandering through the forests.

Colobus Monkeys

Colobus monkeys are black and white monkeys with long tails. In Kilimanjaro National Park, they are commonly observed in the forests and bamboo thickets, where they swing through the trees and feed on leaves and fruit.

Serval Cats

Serval cats are medium-sized cats with long legs and spotted coats. In Kilimanjaro National Park, they are mainly seen around the grasslands and savannas. They sustain themselves by hunting for rodents, birds, and reptiles.

Tree Hyraxes

Tree hyraxes are small, furry mammals that resemble rodents. In Kilimanjaro National Park, they are found in the forests and woodlands, where they live in trees and feed on leaves and bark.

The best time of year to visit Kilimanjaro National Park is during the dry season, which runs from June to October. During this time, the weather is generally sunny and mild, with less rainfall.

Kilimanjaro National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The list consists of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos, and monkeys. There are also over 400 species of birds found in the park.

The best way to get to Kilimanjaro National Park is by flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). The airport is located about 40 kilometres from the park entrance.

There is a variety of accommodations available in Kilimanjaro National Park, from basic campsites to luxury lodges. The type of accommodation visitors opt for mainly depends upon their budget and preferences.

We experienced a 7 day Safari with Hassan through Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Park. Everything was well organized. Hassan was waiting for us with hot coffee at the airport and drove us for the first game drive to Lake Manyara.
