Kilimanjaro Climbing treks take around 5 to 9 days to complete. The duration of the climb depends on the route chosen to climb the mountain. However, there is flexibility to extend the trip and even consider adding a nearby Mount Meru climb or a wildlife safari.

While Mount Kilimanjaro is accessible throughout the year, with certain months being favourable. Climbers typically choose January, February, July, August, and September for the best conditions. However, it's worth noting that months like April, May, and November might be a bit wetter and challenging.

The concept of time is more important than distance when hiking up Kilimanjaro. A typical day starts bright and early at 6:30 AM, after which climbers start out on a 4–5-hour hike. After a rejuvenating lunch break, they proceed with an additional 1-2 hours of trekking.

During the Kilimanjaro Climb, trekkers are advised to carry a lightweight day pack weighing between 2-4 kg. The primary gear, capped at 12 kg, is carried by the able porters. Climbers can securely leave the belongings not required during the ascent at Arusha.

For every climber, Simba Safaris ensures the presence of 3-4 dedicated local staff members. This team comprises proficient English-speaking guides, a skilled cook, and dutiful porters. Our tour company emphasize encouraging interactions between climbers and these local experts, who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Our team ensures climbers are well-equipped, providing tents, sumptuous meals, essential gear, and experienced leadership. However, climbers are responsible for personal items like sleeping bags, appropriate clothing, hydration systems, and a light duffel bag. To assist in packing, a comprehensive list is shared with all participants before the journey.

Our Climbers are accommodated in robust tents designed with double walls and mosquito nets. Though these tents are built to house three, they are usually occupied by two, ensuring comfort. On the Marangu Route, the huts are compact, accommodating four bunk beds, making it a cozy setting, especially for taller individuals.

Simba Safaris prides itself on its diverse and nourishing meal plans. Breakfasts are elaborate, with a mix of eggs, cereals, fruits, and more. While the first day features a picnic lunch, subsequent days offer warm meals, including soups, meats, and veggies. Dinners are a delightful affair, starting with hot soups and culminating with delectable main courses and desserts.

Hydration is essential, and our mountain crew ensures climbers have access to ample drinking water. For safety, climbers are advised to carry two bottles and utilize water-purifying tablets, which can be procured in Arusha.

It's important that climbers begin this journey in optimal health. Even minor respiratory ailments can amplify at high altitudes. Thankfully, concerns like malaria are non-existent at these heights.
